This project is a generative reinterpretation of OMA’s Jussieu Library, focusing on its core architectural concept: the free flowing horizontal plate.
Using TouchDesigner, the work visualizes a series of plates that move chaotically within a fixed grid, exploring the tension between order and randomness.
Each plate moves exclusively on the XY plane, without any vertical (Z axis) displacement, expressing the idea of floating, sliding boundaries rather than fixed architectural layers.
This digital visualization echoes the Jussieu Library’s vision of a continuous, nonhierarchical spatial flow, where floors intersect, overlap, and expand freely.
The motion is driven by chaotic noise, resulting in unpredictable and ever shifting directions and speeds.
Although the plates exist within a defined grid, their relative positions, rhythms, and overlaps are constantly in flux, invoking the latent dynamism within the traditionally static typology of a library.
Moments of collision, crossing, and pause between plates reshape our perception of space and layer.
Rather than presenting a fixed outcome, this work serves as an experimental proposal on how architectural ideas can be translated and transformed within a digital environment.
It invites reflection on the nature of layering, the meaning of spatial boundaries, and how the accumulation and intersection of information might be expressed as a visual language.
